My journey in the cryptocurrency world began in earnest in early 2020, though my awareness of Bitcoin dates back to 2011. At that time, my flatmate was mining Bitcoin on his gaming PC. He sold his holdings in 2013, shortly after Bitcoin reached $100 and first caught mainstream attention. While I’ve since lost touch with him, I often wonder how much he regrets that decision today.
The global upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately steered me towards crypto. Like many, I found myself confined to my home with unexpected time on my hands. Already active in the stock market and navigating it successfully, I received a call from a friend who spent nearly an hour convincing me to explore cryptocurrency. Initially sceptical, I saw an opportunity to use this time to investigate further. I began researching what I believed to be the most promising assets and cautiously allocated a small portion of my stock portfolio to crypto "blue-chips." While I didn’t yet fully grasp the underlying technology, the results were striking: returns that would normally take years in traditional markets materialised in mere days in the crypto world. The volatility was a shock, but it illuminated the immense potential of this space.
While the returns were enticing, I recognised the critical need for understanding before diving deeper. To me, investing without knowledge is gambling, not strategy. Over the next eight months, I immersed myself in rigorous research. I started with Google and YouTube, progressed into Discord communities, and eventually discovered the dynamic ecosystem of 'Crypto Twitter'. Like many newcomers, I initially assumed that large accounts equated to valuable insights. I quickly learned otherwise, realising the importance of independent validation and critical thinking. I was also disheartened to see how many content providers and influencers prioritised their own agendas over genuinely educating their audiences. Determined to be different, I committed to providing value, rooted in integrity and research.
In October 2020, everything clicked. After countless hours of studying blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, I experienced a transformative "Eureka moment." The broader picture made sense, and I gained the confidence to fully commit. I resigned my position in what I hope will be my last 'normie' job, liquidated my stock portfolio, and focused entirely on crypto, recognising the paradigm-shifting potential of this technology.
From there, my engagement with the space grew exponentially. I began testing theories and sharing insights in Discord communities, which were met with enthusiasm. Encouraged by this positive reception, I secured my first paid role in a crypto community in October 2021, followed by two more roles in March and May of 2022. Recognising a demand for high-quality research and strategic guidance, I founded my own company in September 2022. The company offered research papers to individual subscribers and Discord communities while also providing B2B consulting services to crypto organisations. My work centred on delivering turnkey solutions and establishing solid foundations for long-term success in crypto projects.
In Q1 2024, I made the strategic decision to merge my company’s services with The Birb Nest, an organisation I had been collaborating with as a part-time consultant since 2022. This partnership allowed me to scale my impact, offering research and strategic insights to their extensive community while focusing on innovation and quality, and enhancing their commercial service offerings.
To date, I have had the privilege of working with dozens of crypto organisations, ranging from established blue-chip companies to early-stage start-ups. I have also supported hundreds of retail enthusiasts, helping them develop robust research skills, navigate the complexities of the market, and avoid common pitfalls. My work has highlighted exceptional investment and yield opportunities, contributing to a more informed and resilient crypto community.
This Medium profile began as a side project, but lay dormant for periods of time. As of January 2025, I’m committed to revitalising it, sharing regular updates on emerging opportunities, insightful analysis, and practical guidance for beginners.
This journey has been far from straightforward. It has been defined by long hours, relentless challenges, and occasional setbacks. But it has also been deeply rewarding. I’ve travelled the world, participated in high-profile blockchain panels, formed positive relations with industry titans, and enjoyed invite-only VIP treatment at some of the industry’s most prestigious events. Most importantly, I have discovered my true niche in a space that constantly evolves and inspires growth.
